Plumber

Position Overview

A Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems used for water distribution, drainage, heating, and sanitation in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety and building regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building plans to determine plumbing layouts.
  • Install, maintain, and repair water supply lines, drainage systems, gas piping, and related fixtures.
  • Assemble, cut, bend, and join pipes using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Diagnose plumbing issues and perform timely repairs or replacements of defective components.
  • Install and test plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, bathtubs, faucets, water heaters, pumps, and filtration systems.
  • Ensure systems comply with safety codes, building regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct pressure tests and inspections to identify leaks or weaknesses.
  • Provide estimates for plumbing work, including labor, materials, and timelines.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, electricians, and HVAC technicians on new installations and renovations.
  • Maintain records of completed work, inspections, and required follow-ups.
  • Respond to emergency plumbing issues promptly.
  • Use and maintain plumbing tools, equipment, and safety gear responsibly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven work experience as a plumber (residential, commercial, or industrial).
  • Strong knowledge of water distribution and disposal systems, pipefitting, and fixtures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and building schematics.
  • Proficiency in using plumbing tools and equipment.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Education & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program or relevant technical training.
  • Trade license or certification (as required by local regulations).
  • Safety training (OSHA or equivalent) is an advantage.

Work Environment

  • Work may involve both indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous materials, and tight spaces.
  • May require on-call duty for emergency repairs, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
