Position Overview
Tile Setters are specialized workers who install tiles on walls, floors, and other surfaces in buildings and residences. They must be proficient in a variety of tasks, including cutting and shaping tiles, preparing surfaces, and applying grout.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and level surfaces before installation.
- Measure, cut, and lay tiles according to design specifications.
- Mix and apply mortar, adhesives, and grout.
- Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and finishing of tiles.
- Apply sealants and waterproofing materials where required.
- Repair or replace damaged tiles and grout.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety standards.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow design layouts.
- Physical stamina to lift heavy materials and work in varied environments.
- Attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Education & Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a tile setter or similar role.
- Certification (e.g., Certified Tile Installer) is an advantage.
Work Environment
- Work may involve both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous materials, and tight spaces.
- May require on-call duty for emergency repairs, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
